The summer term has ended. Finally.
Believe me this term has felt like an uphill struggle at times, what with Ofsted and the heat the final hurdle has been jumped and now some quality time with my daughter before her little sister arrives.
I know many of you reading this will now hate me as I have just under 6 weeks away from school but tough. I need it, I need to have time to rest and recover. I need to focus on me, the baby and my family.
So tomorrow I will pack up the car and head home for a week by the sea, a week of being looked after, a week where Izzy can spend quality time with her grandparents and her Aunt & Uncle (and their dog of course!) and I cannot wait. I can already feel myself relaxing, albeit in a very sweaty, sticky way, and knowing that I actually can’t go back into school is surprisingly helping with this (school is only open when I’m away!). Naturally I will be working away on the laptop to ensure everything is ready for when I eventually hand over the reins to my maternity cover but that will be slotted around having fun with Izzy and meeting up with friends.
Today was a very interesting day, we said goodbye to one of our more interesting year groups, we’ve had a LOT of laughs over the past 9 months and a few lows too but let’s not dwell. I was surprised actually at how sad I was to see some of them go and realised that I will miss them a lot come September. Still life must go on and as one door in our lives closes, another opens.
Which reminds me I must go and ring up about my counselling…
